This funeral home parking lot in Enid offered a nice view of this high based storm to my northwest. But soon the storm would drop on my list of concerns.....
....where on Earth did all these birds come from???
With time, these birds would move closer and closer.....
....while substantially decreasing in numbers. Where there had been over a thousand birds just minutes earlier, there are now just 200.
50 birds left.....
6 left.....
All gone!!!
Later that night, the storms arrived in Norman. Keep a close eye on the reflection of the TV screen at the bottom of the image, as well as the street light.
WOO WEE!!!! NOW THAT'S A CLOSE STRIKE!!!!!! Actually this strike hit a power pole about 200 yards away, it appears closer due to a reflection off the inside of the lens. This illusion is very common among camcorders whenever it captures a lightning strike, which has led a few storm chasers to mistakenly believe they captured a very close lightning strike. It's pretty obvious this strike couldn't have been as close as it appears - notice how the strike appears to be IN FRONT OF the bars on the window. Moving on....
...after the power pole took the hit, my TV shut off, while the street light dimmed significantly.
After about 30 seconds, my TV came back on, and the street light slowly began to regain full brightness.
